Fire in Local Hardware Store

In Enfield, CT, SERVPRO was called to provide fire damage services to a local hardware store that had gone up in flames after a car crashed through it.  SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield was on the scene within an hour to clean up the broken glass, and cover up the holes in the roof and shattered storefront windows. We boarded off the demolished area of the store, and took care of the soot damage and aroma from the smoke the following day. SERVPRO took the salvageable furniture and equipment from the shop to be cleaned and restored. Using negative air machines and humidifiers, we were able to eliminate the moisture from space, and continued with construction work on the damaged parts of the building. We also tested for asbestos while doing the cleaning. In under 10 days, the store was back to normal. Because SERVPRO was there to act fast, minimal revenue to the store was lost, and insurance costs were prevented from skyrocketing.

Fire & Water Damage at Country Club

When we arrived in December 2017 at this Massachusetts country club, the banquet hall looked like this. The country club had had a fire, suffered water damage, and then had a second fire due to another company's faulty heating equipment. SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield began by covering the roof, boarding up windows, and securing the building. We developed a work flow to keep the country club in operation and to keep everyone safe while we restored about 65,000 square feet. We also had to remove and store furniture while we worked. In the course of the work we discovered and removed asbestos. The country club owners appreciated the fast response, knowledgeable team, quality work, and quick restoration of the property.

Frozen House with Ice

Ice Damage After the Fire

While firefighters do an incredible job putting out fires and saving lives, sometimes their methods of extinguishing the flames cause a different kind of damage. An example of this is back in February of 2018, when a huge fire swept through a home out in Springfield, MA. To control and put a stop to the fire and smoke damage, the firefighters pumped lots and lots of water onto and throughout the house. Because it was the middle of a below-freezing Massachusetts winter, the house was at high risk of getting ice and icicle damage. Luckily, SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield knew just how to treat the situation. SERVPRO eliminated the ice and water, and restored the home back to a safe, inhabitable condition in just a few days. Fire Safety Guidelines

If you’ve been on the scene of hundreds of fires like our experts here at SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield, fire safety stays on your mind. We’ve restored so many homes that have been dealt fire and smoke damage, that could have so easily been avoided by adhering to some basic fire safety guidelines. Go over the dangers of messing around with lighters, matches, and flammable liquids with your kids. Store your flammable materials far away from flammable liquids such as gasoline, kerosene, and paint thinners, and make sure everything is stored in the appropriate non-flammable containers. Don’t leave the kitchen unattended while you're cooking. It’s a good idea to memorize your local fire department’s emergency phone number, along with writing it down. These simple guidelines seem easy to follow, but you’d be shocked by the amount of people who don’t abide by them.

Banquet Hall Fire and Water Damage

A November 2015 fire at the Chez Josef Banquet Hall in Agawam, Massachusetts did extensive smoke damage. SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield restored three ballrooms, the kitchen, and the entrance way. Because the fire department had to use fire hoses to douse the blaze, Chez Josef also had SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield to do a dry down of many rooms. Our crew removed all water and removed furniture and other items so we could bring in our professional drying equipment. We also had to eliminate wet materials that could not be restored (like drywall). A series of SERVPRO’s heavy-duty industrial fans made the drying process go more quickly.

Apartment Complex Fire and Water Cleanup

Apartment Complex Fire and Water Cleanup

On December 18, 2015, a fire at the Waterbury Apartment Complex in Waterbury Connecticut damaged about 9,000 square feet in several apartments. SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield did an emergency board up to secure the affected apartments within an hour. The SERVPRO team did emergency mitigation to dry out the structure and fire and water cleanup that evening, well ahead of schedule. Because of the fast response, quality services, and quick restoration of the apartment complex, the property owner said SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield is the only mitigation company they will use. “This was a case where we wanted to satisfy the property owner, of course, but also the many apartment residents who suffered the major portion of the damage,” said Ralph DiCristofaro, co-owner of SERVPRO of Bloomfield/Enfield.
